Trust a Welshman to mention the sheep market. Good to see where you live, Peter. It was a tad before my time Phil ~ although they did have cattle [not sheep] there when I was a kid ~ thanks for that, it's not a bad place, seen a lot worse....LOL

Not where I live now, but where I did live when I first moved to Devon in 1986. The village of Daccombe. I had a 2 room flat upstairs in New House Farm. I spent a very happy four years there before moving to Torquay, about two miles away.

Looks very peaceful Phil ~ and I can certainly understand why you had a lovely time staying there ~ even looks nice in winter ~ albeit that the snow has been cleared from the roads etc....

Thinking about sheep markets, although I didn't live there, I spent many of my school summer holidays in The Square, Gort, Co. Galway. At that time they still had a weekly cattle market in that square. My grandfather had been a butcher before he retired, and the back yard still contained his abattoir; he did slaughter all the meat he sold. He had retired before any of my memories, and the shop converted to an "anything" shop (except meat - he had arrangement with another butcher).
This is a photo of several of my family taken from that shop in (I think) 1964. My Irish grandparents are to the left of me as you look at it. My mother is Mona and my sister Max.

I don't think I have any photographs that I have taken of Southampton, so I will try google to show you some of the places I like in the city. For now, this is my house.

Not exactly cleared from the roads Peter, that's run-off from the fields. It would regularly freeze at night leaving a lovely skating track the next day. The hill up out of Daccombe (behind the photographer) was narrow and extremely steep, with a nastily cambered double bend part way up. If we had that sort of freeze it was a case of wait for the thaw rather than try to get anywhere.
