Just to let you know, as the discomfort from the stent wore off, Geoff was feeling worse and worse. Most of today was spent in bed, and this evening (around 7;30 or 8PM his time) he went to the hospital. I'll let you all know more as I hear anything. Geoff is in good hands right now and taken care of.
That is why I hope that you are feeling fine and that you're not worrying too much. (easier said than done I know)
You take good care of yourself ok? And we'll be here to listen to you.....if you want to have a good rant about Geoff for worrying you the whole time.

Awww...Thank you! No matter what bad things are happening, you can make me smile. That is a great gift! Geoff called...he can't swallow so the doctors are increasing his pain medication. He doesn't know much more than that but said he will let me know when he has any news.

I'm home.
Nothing actually went wrong. Although it seemed to me that the pain directly resulting from the stretching of the oesophagus had decreased, while some other pain had increased, the doctors assure me that it is actually all the same pain though manifesting differently. I am suffering more than they expected, but they can deal with that.
They experimented somewhat with a "blend" to get me back on my feet; soluble paracetamol (that doctor is convinced the soluble variant is better) four times a day, pwerful slow-release morphine tablets twice a day plus 5 ml (a teaspoonful) of liquid morphine every two hours.
No, I am not high as a kite, and they even allow me to drive! Eating is still painful, but the nutritionists and the oncologists have agreed that I don't need to eat - I AM getting enough nutrition from the liquid supplements I am taking. We are all keen to start the chemo.
I now have an appointment about that for 11 January - the same day I see the surgeon for follow-up on my leg surgery. Now I just need to get the two consultants' secretaries to talk to each other so those appointments are consecutive not simultaneous!

Yes he is queenisabella. Only skyped with him the one time with Sylvie (Goodgrief) we had a bunch of fun and good conversation. I really miss her too.
