Dang! I was ready to post this...hit the wrong key and it disappeared! Anyway, I thought it would be nice if we had a place to just talk to each other. A place where we could say what we are doing, where we are doing it, and when. (Okay...I admit it...I'm nosy! ) Anyway, I will start off by saying that I will be walking up to Main Street for their White Christmas festivities this afternoon. No...there is no snow this year, but that doesn't stop them! There will be a chili making contest, cookie decorating, a bounce house, horse-drawn wagon rides, and a ton of carolers, choirs, and bell ringers. I talk about it (another year) in another section (I think the one about where we are from) but I will post one pic here...

I almost didn't go...but I'm glad I "forced" myself to get out. The only bad thing about the parade is that more "stuff" is added each year, and standing in one place in the cold can get VERY cold. Squirt, I don't blame you one bit! I would probably spend less time on the computer and more curled up with a good book, but you have more than earned the right to do whatever it is you want.

I did some of that too! mostly, I spent the day "shopping" for fonts lol and solutions lol
the first step is always the hardest, especially when it's cold lol just how cold is it there? lol

Lately, it has been mostly in the 40s and 30s...but we are supposed to have a snow storm move in after midnight. We will probably get several inches but it shouldn't be bad for my area. In the fall/early winter, the lake is still "warm" so we are protected from the worst of it. (In a few months the opposite happens)
As far as the first step being the hardest...I agree with you! That is why I was out today getting extra coffee, a few books from the used book store, and a few treats. lol I plan on hibernating, which means sitting in my cozy apartment and watching the pretty snow fall outside.

LOVE the pic! She looks as though she is saying "Play with me, Mommy". I don't know what it is with dogs...but most of them seem to love the snow. When I was married hubby believed animals belonged outside, so ours lived in doghouses. I remember one BAD storm when the temps dipped down to about -20 overnight and he packed the doghouse with straw to help keep our husky warm. An hour later, all the straw was outside the doghouse, and she was outside lying in the snow. lol After that, I stopped worrying about her being too cold.

That was nice you could do that, here they think that it's better when the owner leaves because they feel the animal does better when they don't see us maybe it has something to do with their stress level because they can sense are stress... but she's home now and she is crying it's a painful cry & I can't give her any thing for pain until 7:00 pm she look's so pitiful bless her little heart...I feel so bad for her but it's over & she's home it's healing time now....it's been a long day

Your story reminds me of this house I would pass from time to time and I would always see this black dog chained to a pole near its doghouse - it made me so sad and I didn't know if it was okay or if there was a reason behind it, it had the doghouse near but the weather can get messy and cold here and I felt bad. One day I drove by and the doghouse was gone, the pup was running free around the yard so either someone else talked to them or they figured it out When we were in Alaska we saw the dog sled excursion and the huskys definetly love it outside they aim to please that's for sure.. Glad your guy turned out okay

When my dog had to have his surgery, I told the vet that I wanted to stay with him till he was anesthetized and back again before they woke him up. Same as Laila was saying here they prefer we don't so they can prep them, shave them etc - then we have to wait for them to come out of anesthesia before we can pick them up it takes forever

Same as Laila was saying here they prefer we don't so they can prep them, shave them etc - then we have to wait for them to come out of anesthesia before we can pick them up it takes forever The reason I asked for it was that my dog had trust issues.... He was around 4 yrs old when got him from him shelter and had already been in and out 4 times. Not the easiest dog I ever had. You need an instruction book to handle him but they forgot to add it.....either that or it was in Chinese. When I wanted to clean the house and I got a broom he would cringed as if I wanted to hit him with it. If I raised my voice telling him ¨No¨ he got aggressive...... Not to mention he had some kind of authistic problems......if I took him for a walk.....he always wanted to walk the same route on the same path......and when one day a truck was parked on that same path and he could not pass, he refused to walk further.....waiting for that truck to move. I had to pick him up.......walk on the side of a very busy road, put him back on the path right after the truck before he would continue our walk..... It took me a year for him to become the happy, friendly ,enthusiastic little creature that he was for the rest of his life.......and I didn´t want to spoil all of that to leave him alone at the vet..... He is almost 15 now.......still not the easiest dog I ever had.......but he is so darn cute. lol

In your case, any GOOD vet would do the same. Vets, just like people doctors, need to be flexible and do what is correct for that particular patient. Your little guy NEEDED you, so you were allowed, but animals are VERY good at picking up feelings from their owners, and many owners would go off the deep end.
BTW...Have you got any pictures of him? We would love to see them!
