Possibly my favourite comic actor, George Cole has died at the age of 90, surrounded by his family.
I first remember him for playing the dodgy dealer Flash Harry in the St. Trinian movies, but he is probably best remembered as Arthur Daley, another dodgy dealer, for sixteen years in the very successful TV series Minder.
I also thoroughly enjoyed his many mainly cameo parts in numerous other programs.
He will be sorely missed.

RIP George.
My favourite British character actor was his mentor: Alastair Sim. Sim took him in when he was 15 and taught him a lot.

R.I.P. indeed ~ I also am of an age when I remember all that Geoff has mentioned ~ he will be missed as there are 'few' character actors around today ~ bless him, 90 is a good innings ~ but sad all the same.
